Penco Marbles & Granites

Penco Marbles & Granites is situated on Thrissur Road in Kanippayoor. We are right there by the P.O., so the mail arrives pretty early every day. Our yard is usually full of heavy stone slabs leaning against each other. There is always a layer of white dust over everything because of the cutting and polishing that goes on. It is a bit of a messy business, but that is how it works with marble and granite. We spend a lot of time moving these heavy pieces around with the crane or just by hand when we have to. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the afternoon, making the stones hot to the touch. We have a small cabin where we keep the accounts and talk to people who pull over from the main road. The traffic on Thrissur Road never seems to stop, so it is always noisy. We do not have a fancy showroom with bright lights. Most people just walk around the yard with us to see what we have got in the stacks. Sometimes a slab has a crack we didn't see, or the color isn't exactly what someone wanted, so we just move on to the next one. It is physical work and our clothes usually end up ruined by the end of the week. We have been in Kanippayoor for a good stretch now and most of the builders around here know our faces.
