Sharda Rice Mill

Sharda Rice Mill is located on Lalpur-Road, in Ward No.5 of Bagbahra. The post office is right nearby, so we are in a central part of the ward. It’s a typical local mill where the sound of the machines is the main thing you notice when you walk up. We’ve got a good amount of space for the trucks to turn around, which is important because things get cramped during the peak season. The workers here are mostly from the surrounding area, and many have been with us for a long time. We handle the rice from start to finish—cleaning, husking, and bagging. It’s physical work and it keeps us on our toes. The office is just a small room with a fan and some wooden benches. We don't have air conditioning or fancy furniture. We spend most of our time out on the floor anyway, making sure the quality is what it should be. The road outside can get dusty when the wind picks up, but that’s just how it is in Bagbahra. We don't go in for big advertisements or anything like that. We just let the work speak for itself. People in the ward know where we are if they need us. It’s a very practical, no-nonsense kind of place. We just focus on getting the rice ready and moving it out to where it needs to go. It is a basic job, but it is our job.
