We are located down on the Hemmadykollur Road in Udupi. It is a busy spot but we like being here. The whole place revolves around coconuts mostly. Most days it is just us dealing with the husks and the shells, making sure things get moved out on time. My dad always used to say that if you work with what grows around you, you will never go hungry. We took that to heart. It is not fancy work at all. We get our hands dirty every single day. The yard gets pretty cluttered with raw materials sometimes, especially during the peak seasons when the trucks keep coming in from the nearby groves. We try to keep a decent schedule but things happen. Sometimes the machinery acts up or a delivery is late because of the rain. That is just life in Udupi though. We do not have a big office with air conditioning or anything like that. Most of our time is spent out on the floor or talking to the guys who bring us the nuts. It is a small team, mostly people from around the neighborhood who have been with us for years. We know each other’s families and what is going on in the village. It feels more like a big, loud family than a company sometimes. We just focus on getting the coco products ready and sent off to wherever they are needed next. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise till the evening.
