Akshara Book Shop

We are down at 458, Maddodi Road in Baindur. It’s a quiet little place compared to the big cities. The shop is small and we sell books and stationery items mostly. Kids from the nearby schools come in all the time for notebooks, pens, and pencils. We know most of them and their families by name. My wife helps me out in the afternoons when it gets a bit busy after school finishes. We don't have any fancy glass displays or anything like that. The shelves are made of old wood and they’ve been here since the day we opened our doors. Sometimes the rain in Baindur is so heavy we have to put big plastic sheets over the entrance just to keep the books dry. It’s a simple life. We open early in the morning and close when the sun goes down. People stop by just to chat for a bit sometimes, not even to buy anything. We have some newspapers and magazines for the locals too. It’s not a place where you’ll find the latest bestsellers the day they come out, but we try to keep what people actually need. The floor is just plain cement and we sweep it twice a day to keep it clean. We like being part of the neighborhood here on Maddodi Road. There’s no big hurry in our shop. We just take things as they come. It’s a small family business and we are happy with that.
