Great India

Great India is located in Kallimel, which is part of the Kollakadavu area. It’s a quiet spot compared to the bigger cities. Most of our mail comes through the post office at Kollakadavu, and everyone around here knows where that is. We’ve been in this community for quite some time. The building we work out of isn't very large, but it has enough room for what we need. We mostly deal with local people from the surrounding villages. In the mornings, it’s usually just the sound of birds and the occasional scooter passing by. It’s a green area, very different from the industrial zones you see elsewhere. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles in our office. It’s just a couple of rooms with some tables and chairs where we sit and talk to folks. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just take a break until it comes back on. We aren't trying to be the biggest company around. We just want to do our bit and stay involved with the people we know. It’s a slow pace of life here in Kallimel, and we like it that way. We see the same faces every day, and that makes the work feel more personal. We’ve stayed in this location because it’s home for us. There’s no reason to be anywhere else but right here in this corner of Kerala. We just do the work as it comes.
