Purusoth Metal

Purusoth Metal is over at Plot No-2118 on Kaveri Street in Kumbakonam. It’s a place where the sound of metal hitting metal is pretty much the background music of our lives. We’ve been at this spot for a long time now. The street itself is usually busy with cycles and people heading to the temples nearby. Working with metal means our hands are rarely clean and the shop floor always has some scraps lying around. We try to keep it organized but when you’re busy, things tend to pile up in the corners. The heat in Kumbakonam doesn't make the work any easier, especially in the middle of the day when the metal gets warm to the touch. We have a small tea break every afternoon when the local vendor comes by. It’s a good time to sit for ten minutes before getting back to the piles. We don’t spend much on decorations or signs. The name on the wall is getting a bit faded from the sun but everyone around here knows where we are. Our work is just about getting things done and making sure the pieces go out when they are supposed to. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a lot to finish, and the street gets quiet except for the occasional dog barking. It’s just us doing what we know how to do, day after day, without much fuss.
