About Esha Emu Farms – Agriculture & Farming in Kumarapalayam
We set up the farm in Palakapalayam, right near the Excel College off the NH-47 road. It’s a handy spot because trucks can pull in from the highway without trouble. The emu pens are laid out towards the back of the property. Since those birds are big, they need space to run, and we spend our time out in the enclosures. Feeding them and keeping things clean isn't an easy job at all. Starting with just a few birds, we grew the place bit by bit. That thumping noise they make is something you get used to. Most days involve checking fences or dealing with the feed bags. College students often walk by and look at the birds through the gate. There is no fancy showroom here. It's just a working farm. We handle the eggs and the birds ourselves. My family lives nearby so someone is always around if something happens at night. Dry weather can be tough out here, but the birds are quite hardy. Driving down NH-47, you really can't miss the place. We keep to our work and make sure the animals are looked after properly. Chores happen every single day regardless of how the weather looks. We stay busy with the birds and the land. It’s a lot of work but it's what we do here. Sometimes the birds are stubborn but we manage them.
