If you’re driving down National Highway No. 47, you’ll pass right by us on the Salem Main Road. We’re in the Namakkal District, which is a busy area for transport. You can hear the big trucks rumbling by all day long, it’s a constant sound in the background of our work. The dust from the road comes in if we leave the front door open too long. Our building is right there on the side of the highway, making it easy for the trucks to pull in and load up. It’s not a quiet office job; it’s loud and there’s always something moving. We spend our time checking the stitching and making sure the labels are on straight. The heat can get pretty bad in the afternoons, so we have a few heavy-duty fans going all the time. Everyone knows everyone around here since it’s a main route. We don't do much marketing, we just stick to the work at hand. The floors are concrete and we keep them swept, but there’s always some thread or scrap lying around. We’ve got a small area for tea in the back where we take breaks. It’s a straightforward operation. We focus on the production line and getting the boxes out on time. Being on NH 47 means we’re always connected to the next town, which helps with the shipping. It’s a busy, dusty, honest way to spend the day.
