Mount Tour N Travel

Spent a good few years here in Manali now, mostly just handling the day-to-day work at the office. We are situated in the 175131 area and it is a pretty quiet spot until the tourists start arriving in the summer. Usually, our mornings start early, around 5 AM, when we get the cars ready and talk to the drivers about the road conditions up towards the passes. The chill in the air never really goes away, even in June. It is not a big fancy operation with hundreds of staff. It is just us, sitting at the wooden desk, taking calls and making sure the permits for the mountain roads are in order. Sometimes the snow blocks everything and we just sit around drinking tea and waiting for the sun to come out. We know these roads like the back of our hands and we know which stretches get bumpy after a heavy rain. It is mostly about being practical and getting people where they need to go without any trouble. We keep our logs in big paper ledgers and use the phone more than anything else. Life in the hills moves a bit slower, and we have learned to go with that rhythm. People come here to see the peaks and we just help them do that. It is a simple way to make a living and we like being part of the local scene here.
