Up here in Kullu, things move a bit slower than they do in the big cities. We are located at the Malana-II site, right in the village of Chowki near Jari. Being part of Everest Power and Abir Infrastructure means we spend a lot of time looking at the mountains and the river. The office is basically where the medical officer stays too. It’s a practical setup because we are so far out from the main town. You have to drive a long way on those winding roads just to reach us. The air is cold most of the year, so we usually have heaters going in the small rooms. We deal with a lot of infrastructure work, which involves plenty of mud, rocks, and heavy machinery. It isn't a place for fancy clothes; everyone wears sturdy boots and jackets. We keep track of the project from these desks, surrounded by maps and old files. Sometimes the electricity goes out when the weather gets bad, and we just wait it out. Life in the HP hills is tough but quiet. We see the same faces every day in the village. It is a humble place to work, focused on the power project and the people who live around here. There’s a lot of walking involved, going from one part of the site to the other, making sure everything is where it should be for the project to continue.
