Jagannath Tiles

Tingulli is a quiet place compared to the big cities, and we are located right in the Sindhudurg district. Our shop, Jagannath Tiles, is very close to the Jagannath Temple. You can usually hear the temple bells ringing from across the way while we are working. We sell different kinds of tiles for floors and walls to the local people. The shop is mostly just a large open space where we keep the heavy stacks of ceramic. It is a lot of manual labor, carrying crates of tiles back and forth from the trucks. My back usually aches by the time we close up for the night. The dust from the stone and ceramic gets everywhere, so we are always sweeping the floor to keep it somewhat clean. Being near the temple means we see a lot of people passing by every day. Some of them are just visiting for prayers, while others are neighbors looking to fix up their small kitchens or bathrooms. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights and mirrors. It is more of a warehouse feel where you can see the actual boxes of stock we have ready. The weather here in Sindhudurg can be quite rainy, which makes loading the transport trucks a bit of a mess sometimes. We use old wooden pallets to keep the tiles off the wet ground. It is a straightforward business for us and we keep it simple.
