Habib Oil And Grains Processing is situated right at the 10 Km Stone mark on Ooty Road. We are in the Kadakola Post area. It’s a nice drive out this way, away from the heavy traffic of the city. The air feels a bit different here, maybe because of the open space around us. We deal with grains and oil, so the whole building usually smells like a harvest. It’s a large site with plenty of room for the sacks to be piled up. We have been here since the road was much narrower than it is today. The workers come in from the surrounding Kadakola area, some of them have been with us since they were young men. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. People just know where we are because of the sign by the road. Sometimes the rain makes it hard to dry things out, so we have to watch the clouds closely. The equipment makes a lot of noise, a deep humming that you can feel in your feet. We take our tea breaks outside when the weather is clear. It’s a simple business. We receive the raw materials, process them, and pack them up. There isn’t much drama here. We just try to keep the machines running smoothly and ensure everyone gets their work done before the sun sets.
