Roy Hardware

Roy Hardware is situated in the Asannagar Bazar area of Nadia. We are under the Bhimpur police station jurisdiction. Being in a bazaar means there is never a dull moment. From the time we open the shutters in the morning until we close them at night, there are people coming in and out. The smell of metal, lubricants, and fresh paint is always in the air here. We have shelves filled with everything from small screws to heavy tools. It’s a bit of a maze inside because we try to stock as much as possible for the local builders and farmers. The floors are concrete and they have some scratches from years of moving heavy crates around. We don't have a computer system that does everything; a lot of our notes are still written by hand in registers. It’s more personal that way. The customers are mostly people from nearby who we’ve known for years. We talk about the weather or the local news while we look for the right size of pipe or a specific wrench. Nadia can get very humid, so the shop can feel a bit stuffy in the afternoons, but we have a couple of fans that keep the air moving. It’s a noisy, busy place but it’s where we belong. We just focus on keeping the shelves stocked and helping the people who walk through the door with their projects. Every day is a little bit different.
