O K Brick

Down here in Village Jalkaar Mathurapur, life moves at a much slower pace than in the big cities. We are located out in the Nadiya district, specifically near the Govindpur post office. It is mostly farmland and open space around us, so our brick operations are a big part of the local scenery for anyone driving through. The work is often dusty and hard, especially when that summer heat really starts hitting the plains. We have a small group of local men who have been working with these bricks for many years now. They know the clay and the fire better than almost anyone else in the area. It's not a glamorous job by any means, but it is very necessary for the community. You can find us by following the narrow road out of the main village area. We don't have a fancy website or any marketing team to speak of. Mostly, we just talk to the local builders and the villagers who need to put up a new wall or a small house. The trucks come and go all day long, kicking up a lot of dust on the dry dirt paths. Sometimes the monsoon rain slows us down and we have to cover everything up with heavy tarps. We usually eat our lunch under the shade of the big trees near the small office room. It’s a very simple setup with stacks of finished bricks everywhere. It’s just honest work.
