If you are looking for us, we are at No.221 in the Sigamani Complex. It’s on Rayakottah Road in the Madhepatti area. Being in a complex means we have neighbors on both sides, mostly other small shops. We spend our time moving heavy boxes of hardware around. It’s a lot of metal and tools and parts that people need for their houses or construction jobs. Rayakottah Road is always full of noise from the buses and lorries passing by. Sometimes it feels like the dust never settles on the counter no matter how much we wipe it down. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. The morning starts with opening the shutters and checking what stock we ran out of the day before. We carry things like hammers, nails, and different types of pipes. It’s not a large space so we have things stacked up high. Sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what a customer is asking for because there are so many small parts. People from all over Madhepatti come here because they know we are usually around during the day. It’s a simple hardware shop, nothing too special to look at, but it keeps us busy from morning until late evening. The complex gets quite hot in the summer but we have a small fan that helps a bit while we wait for the next person to come in and buy some supplies for their project.
