Out here at 75-A1 in the Sipcot Industrial Area, life follows the rhythm of the factory whistles. We are Sona Horologicals Pvt. Ltd., and this is where we spend most of our waking hours. The industrial area is quite spread out, so it’s a bit of a walk if you don't have a scooter. Our workspace is filled with benches and small tools. Because of what we do, the lighting has to be good, so we have these bright tubes everywhere that hum a little bit. It’s a focused kind of place. You won’t hear a lot of loud talking because everyone is busy with their hands. We’ve had the same crew for a long time, and we’ve gotten used to the way things are done here. The break room is just a few chairs and a table where we keep our tiffin boxes. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait for the generator to kick in, which gives us a few minutes to step outside for some air. The air in the industrial estate always smells a bit like metal and exhaust. We don’t have a big marketing team or anyone to write fancy brochures for us. We just make sure the items are ready on time. It’s a steady life, and we’re used to the routine of this place.
