Sakthi Engineering

You can find Sakthi Engineering over on Thally Road, right across from TVS Nagar. We’ve been at this No. 2/132-A spot for a while now. The workshop is usually a bit of a noisy place because of the machines and the welding that goes on. We don’t have a fancy showroom; it’s mostly just the shop floor with metal scraps and tools lying around where they were last used. If you walk in, you’ll probably see someone bent over a lathe or busy with a grinder. The air always has that metallic scent to it. We take on all sorts of engineering jobs, from small repairs for people in the neighborhood to bigger parts that take a few days to get right. Sometimes a customer brings in a piece of broken machinery that’s so old we have to figure out a way to fix it from scratch. It’s a lot of hands-on work and getting grease under your fingernails. The walls are covered in old calendars and some charts that we’ve used for years. We have a small bench outside where we sit during the lunch break to watch the traffic go by on Thally Road. It isn’t much, but it’s our daily routine and we’ve gotten pretty good at knowing which machine is acting up just by the sound it makes in the morning. We just keep our heads down and get the work done as it comes in.
