Gnm Leathers

Pernambut has always been a place about leather, and Gnm Leathers is right in the middle of it on Kota Road. We spend most of our days surrounded by hides and the tools we use to work them. It’s not a quiet job by any means. There’s always the sound of some machine going or someone moving heavy stock around. We’ve been at this location for a good bit of time now. The building is simple, just what we need to get the work done. It gets really hot in the afternoons, especially when we have a lot of new material coming in. We don't really do the fancy retail thing here. Most of what we do is just preparing and handling the leather. It’s hard work on the hands, honestly. You get used to the smell of the tanning and the dyes after a few years, though. It just smells like a normal day of work to us now. We know the other shop owners on Kota Road too. Sometimes we help each other out if someone’s short on a particular tool or something. We don’t have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just the workshop and a small area in the corner where we keep the books and the phone. We try to keep things straightforward and honest. If someone comes looking for us, they usually just follow the noise of the hammers or machines. It’s a local business through and through.
