About Carborundum Universal Limited – Metals & Minerals in Krishnagiri
At Carborundum Universal Limited, we are part of the Industrial Ceramics Division located at No. 47 in the Sipcot Industrial Complex. Ceramics might sound like delicate work, but in an industrial setting, it’s actually quite heavy and involves a lot of heat. The kilns are running most of the time, and you can feel the warmth radiating through the walls even in the hallway. Our division is tucked into a large warehouse-style building where we handle raw materials and turn them into hard components. Sipcot is a massive place, and being at No. 47 means we are right in the thick of things. There’s a lot of dust from the grinding processes, so we are always sweeping and trying to keep the workstations clear. The rhythm of the factory is set by the firing cycles of the ovens. When the ceramics come out, they have to cool down slowly, so there is a lot of waiting involved. We use a lot of heavy gloves and safety gear because the edges can be sharp. The breakroom is just a simple room with a few tables and a fridge, but it's a good place to get away from the noise for a bit. We don't have any flashy brochures or a fancy lobby. It's just a place where people work hard and focus on the ceramic parts we are supposed to produce. We get our tasks in the morning and just get to it.
