We are at No. 8 M. C. Road in Kannika Puram. Our building is known as Kannika No. 63502. This is an area where a lot of manufacturing happens. At Aston Shoes, we spend our days surrounded by leather, soles, and the smell of industrial glue. It’s a busy place with a lot of movement. We have different sections for cutting the leather and then stitching the pieces together. The machines are old but we keep them running ourselves. The floors are concrete and have seen a lot of wear over the years. We have a small office near the front door where we keep the records. It’s always a bit chaotic with samples of shoes sitting on the desks. The road outside is often dusty and can get muddy when it rains. We don't have a big fancy entrance. It’s just a gate that stays open during the day. Our team is a mix of older workers who have been here forever and some younger ones learning the trade. We take our breaks together and talk about the news. We don't put on any acts here. It’s hard work and the days are long. We make shoes that people wear every day. That’s about all there is to say about us. We just keep the production going. It's a steady job for everyone here.
