Out here in Kothur village, near Vijayawada, we run our project business. My father, Gopalarao, started things and we’ve kept it going in the Kamakotinagar area. It’s a bit of a trek from the main city, but we like the quiet of the rural district. We mostly handle local projects, helping folks build homes or develop their land. The office is part of our family setup, so it’s very informal. You’ll probably see some of our kids running around or neighbors stopping by for a chat while we work. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing department. We just have our tools, our experience, and a good knowledge of the local land. It can get very hot in Krishna district, so we usually start our site work very early in the morning before the sun gets too high. We deal with a lot of paperwork from the local panchayat and the rural offices, which can be slow. But we know the system. We aren't some big city firm that doesn't understand the local soil or the way things work in the village. We’re just local people helping other local people get their projects finished. Sometimes we have to wait for the harvest season to end before we can get enough labor for a job. That’s just the way life is here. We do our best to stay on schedule and keep our word. It's hard work but we are proud of it.
