Munna Wood Carving Works

Munna Wood Carving Works is located out in Poranki, Tadigaddapa. It’s a bit away from the main city rush, which is nice because wood carving takes a lot of focus and time. Our shop at number 7 is usually covered in a thin layer of sawdust no matter how much we sweep it. You can hear the sound of chisels hitting wood from down the road. It’s a slow kind of work, and we don't like to rush things because mistakes are hard to fix. We’ve been doing this for years, and our hands definitely show it. The space is filled with the smell of different types of timber and polish. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. If you come by, you’ll probably find us sitting on low stools working on a piece of furniture or a decorative panel. It’s just a small group of us who know how to handle the tools. We don't use a lot of big machinery because we prefer doing things by hand. The neighbors often stop by to watch for a minute or to ask about a small repair. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We aren't trying to build an empire; we just want to keep making things that look right. It’s honest work that keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. We enjoy the process more than anything else.
