You can find L.K. Fab Private Limited at shop 486 in the Radha Krishna Textile Market. We’re right on the Ring Road in Surat. If you’ve ever been to this market, you know it’s a total maze. It’s packed with people, barrows of cloth, and shops crammed into every corner. Our shop is just like the others—filled with rolls of fabric from floor to ceiling. It’s a bit cramped, but we make it work. Most of our day is spent dealing with wholesalers and traders who come through the market. There’s constant noise from the street outside and the other shops nearby. We don’t have any fancy decor or air conditioning that works particularly well. It’s just a place where business happens. We’ve been in this market for quite a few years now. We know the other shopkeepers and the guys who deliver the tea. It’s a tough environment because everything moves so fast, and you have to be on your toes to keep track of the stock. We don’t do any advertising. People know we’re here at shop 486. We just handle the fabric, write out the bills by hand most of the time, and try to keep things moving. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving heavy rolls around and checking colors under the light. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we know. We just focus on doing our bit in the huge Surat textile scene, day after day, year after year, and just getting the cloth where it needs to go.
