Kanka Durga General Stores

Our shop, Kanka Durga General Stores, is right on the Gudivada Road in Kanumolu. If you are looking for house number 1/41, that’s us. It’s a busy road with a lot of trucks going past, so there is always a bit of noise. We opened this place because there weren’t many spots nearby to get basic household items without going all the way into the main town. We sell things like matches, sugar, cooking oil, and snacks for the kids who walk home from school. The shop is small, and I usually sit behind the wooden counter near the entrance. My wife helps out in the afternoons so I can go and pick up more stock from the bigger distributors. We don’t have a big staff, just us two. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat for a bit while they buy their groceries. We have a small fridge for cold drinks, which is popular when the weather gets hot. The shelves are wooden and a bit old now, but they hold everything we need. We try to keep the prices fair because we know everyone in the village. It’s not a big operation, just a regular general store where you can find the basics. If we don’t have something, we usually try to get it by the following week. It’s a quiet life here in Kanumolu and we like the people who live around us.
