Amma Mobile & General Stores

Amma Mobile & General Stores is a bit of a busy place because we do two things at once here at the Panja Center on Main Road. On one side of the small shop, I have a counter where I sit with my tools to fix mobile phones that have cracked screens or buttons that don't work anymore. On the other side and all along the back walls, we have the general store items like soaps, biscuits, and bags of pulses. It is a tight squeeze sometimes when three or four people are inside at the same time. Vijayawada is a loud city and the Panja Center area is especially noisy with all the buses and people shouting. We keep the shop open from morning until late at night because you never know when someone will drop their phone or realize they forgot to buy milk for the morning tea. The walls have some old posters on them and the floor is just plain cement that we sweep a few times a day. It is mostly me and my younger brother running the place. We don't use any computers for the bills, just a small pad and a pen. Most of our customers are just neighbors who live in the apartments nearby or people catching a bus at the corner. It's a lot of sitting and waiting for the next person to walk in, but it keeps us busy enough for the day.
