Accountent

I work out of Saradhanagar in Machilipatnam, which is in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. My setup is at K Jacob’s place. It’s a quiet area, which is good because accounting needs a lot of concentration. I don’t have a big staff or a fancy office suite. It’s just me and my books and a computer. I’ve been helping people around here with their taxes and accounts for quite a while. Most of my clients are local shopkeepers or families who need help with their financial paperwork. It’s a very personal way of working. I know most of the people who come through the door by their first names. We usually sit down and have a coffee while we go over their receipts and income details. Machilipatnam is a nice place, but it can get very humid, so I usually have the fan going full blast. I don't really do any advertising. Word travels fast in Saradhanagar, and if you do a decent job, people tell their cousins and friends. My desk is usually covered in folders and pens. I try to stay organized, but sometimes when it's busy, things get a bit piled up. I’m not some big city consultant with a tie and a briefcase. I’m just a local accountant trying to make sure people's numbers add up properly at the end of the year. It’s steady work and I enjoy the conversations I have with my neighbors while we work.
