Thikkodi is a quiet place most of the time. Our spot here at 2nd Cross isn't very large, but it works for what we do. Vm Soda Works has been around for a while now. We mostly spend our mornings getting the glass bottles ready. It’s a lot of washing and checking for cracks. The machine for the gas is an older one, but it does the job just fine. You can hear the hiss of the carbonation from the street. Some days it’s really humid being so close to the coast, and that’s when everyone wants a drink. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a big office. Just a couple of desks and the production area. The trucks struggle a bit with the turn into the cross, but the drivers are used to it by now. We usually have tea from the shop down the road around eleven. It’s a simple life here. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. Most of the guys working here live within walking distance, so we know each other's families. When the power goes out, which happens sometimes, we just sit outside and wait it out. There’s no point rushing things. We just make sure the crates are stacked straight and the caps are on tight. It’s steady work, and it keeps us busy enough throughout the week. We like the routine of it all and the people we work with.
