About Venkateshwara Flour – Food & Beverages in Kozhikode
We’ve been operating Venkateshwara Flour right here at 9, Civil Station for quite some time. Kozhikode is a busy place, and being near the Civil Station means there’s always something happening outside our door. It gets pretty loud with the traffic, but you get used to it after a week or two. Most of the time, we’re just busy with the grinders. There’s always flour in the air, so we’re usually covered in a thin white layer by lunchtime. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady. We have a small crew, and we all know our roles. Sometimes the machine breaks down, and we have to spend the afternoon fixing it instead of working. That’s just how it goes with old machinery. We don’t have a fancy waiting area or anything. People just drop off what they have and come back later. It’s a practical setup. The shop isn’t very large, so we have to be careful about where we stack the bags. My hands are always dry from the flour, but I don’t mind it much. We see the same faces every week, which is nice. It feels like we’re part of the furniture around here. If you’re ever near the Civil Station, you’ll probably smell the grain. We just do our work and go home. That’s the way we like it. Nothing more to it.
