The Bengal Cotton Saree Center

You can find us at Room G/72 in the stadium building. It’s right across from the chest hospital in Calicut. People sometimes get lost looking for the specific room number since the building is quite large, but once you find the stadium entrance, it is easy to spot us. The Bengal Cotton Saree Center has been here for a good while. We mostly deal with sarees, obviously. The room is a bit small, so we have to stack the bundles high on the wooden shelves. It smells like fresh cotton in here most of the time. We open the doors early to catch the morning air before the city gets too busy. Calicut can get really rainy for months, and then the stadium area gets quite damp and gray. We just keep the lights on and wait for people to stop by. Usually, it's folks who are visiting the hospital across the street or just passing through this part of the city. We don't have a big team of employees. It is just us handling the stock and talking to whoever comes in to look at the patterns. We don't use any fancy computer systems for our sales. We still write things down in a big ledger book. It works fine for us. Sometimes the traffic outside on the main road is very loud, but you stop noticing it after a few hours of working. 673001 is the area code here.
