South Motors

Our workshop is down in South Engapuzha. If you’re driving through Engapuzha, you can’t really miss us. South Motors has been around for quite a while, focusing on two-wheelers. It’s a simple shop. We have tools scattered around and the smell of grease is pretty much everywhere. That’s just part of the job when you’re fixing bikes all day. There are three or four of us here usually. We deal with flat tires, engine noises, and general maintenance. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so we usually have a fan going near the entrance. People from the village drop by with their scooters and motorcycles. Sometimes they stay for a chat while we work. We don't have a waiting room with magazines or anything like that. Most folks just stand around or sit on a bench outside. It’s a busy life, especially on Mondays when everyone seems to have a problem with their bike at once. We handle what we can and try to be fair about the time it takes. The floor is stained with oil, and our hands are usually black by noon. We grew up around here, so we know most of the regulars by name. It’s not a shiny dealership. It’s just a place where things get fixed so people can get back on the road. We stay open until the sun goes down most days.
