About Paper Jewellery – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Kozhikode
Westhill is where we keep our small setup for Paper Jewellery. Most days it’s just us sitting around a big table with lots of scraps and glue. It’s quiet here in Calicut, except for the traffic outside sometimes. We started this because we liked working with our hands. It isn’t some big factory with machines. It is more like a room where things get messy and then cleaned up at the end of the day. People ask why paper, and honestly, it’s just what we had around. We spend hours cutting and rolling things. My back hurts a bit after a long day, but that’s how it goes. The shop isn't hard to find if you know the Westhill area. We don't have a fancy sign or anything. It's just a place where we do our work. Some days the humidity makes the paper act funny, so we have to wait for things to dry properly. It’s a slow process. We don’t really rush. Most of the time, we are just listening to the radio while we work. It’s a simple life here. We’ve been in this spot for a while now. The neighbors know us as the people who always have colorful bits of paper stuck to their clothes. It’s not a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy and we like the quiet routine of it all. Plus, the tea shop next door has good snacks, so we take breaks there often.
