We work out of Apartment No 5 B in the Skyline Petal building, which is on Palazhi Road in the Nellikode area. It’s a bit different running a project office out of an apartment, but it gives us a good view of the neighborhood. Pottammal is not too far away, so we are close enough to the main parts of town. The space is filled with rolls of blueprints and different types of floor tiles we’ve been looking at. We spend a lot of time sitting around the big table in the main room, trying to figure out the best way to lay out a room or fix a structural issue. The balcony is usually where we take our breaks to have some tea and look at the rain when it comes down. It’s a quiet enough place to think, which helps when we have to draw up complicated plans for a new building. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. People usually come here to talk through their ideas while we sit with our laptops and notebooks. The Palazhi Road can get a bit busy during the rush hour, but inside the apartment, it stays mostly peaceful. We’re just a small group of people trying to do good work on the projects we take on. It’s a lot of measuring, drawing, and checking on things, and we just try to keep it all moving forward without too much trouble for anyone involved.
