Master Motor Driving School

Our school is based in Chathamangalam, out here in the Calicut area of Kerala. It’s a bit different from the big city centers because we have some nice stretches of road that aren't always jammed with vehicles. Our office is a simple room where we keep the registers and talk to people about their driving tests. Most of the people who come to us are local students from the college or folks from the nearby villages who need to get their license for work. We take the cars out every day, going through the basics of the "H" track and the slope starts that everyone dreads. It can be quite a long process for some, especially getting the hang of the manual gear shift. We spend a lot of time on the road, watching the coconut trees go by while someone practices their steering. The weather in Kerala can be tricky too; when it rains hard, we still have to teach people how to drive safely in the wet. It’s a very hands-on kind of business. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know the roads well. We don't use any complicated teaching methods, just sitting in the car and explaining things as they happen. It’s a quiet, steady way to earn a living while helping the local community gain some independence on the road. We usually wrap things up when the sun starts to go down.
