About Jindal Power Plant – Metals & Minerals in Kozhikode
Down here in Kerala, we are set up at the power plant in Mukkam. It is a bit of a drive from the main Calicut city, but it is a nice area with a lot of green around us. We have our post office box right here so mail gets to us eventually. Working at a power plant means things are usually humming along with that low background noise you get used to after a week. The guys here are mostly locals or people who have moved to the district for the work. We deal with a lot of technical stuff every day, making sure the machinery is behaving and the output is steady. It gets very humid, especially during the monsoon months when the rain just does not seem to stop for days. We wear our boots and get on with it. It is not a desk job where you sit in air conditioning all day, there is always something to walk out and check on. We have been part of the community here for some time now. People in Mukkam know us and we know them. It is a straightforward operation. We are not trying to change the world or anything, just making sure the electricity is being produced like it is supposed to be. It takes a lot of regular maintenance and a bit of patience when parts are delayed, but we manage just fine with the team we have.
