Janmithra Supermarket Llp is right by the old bridge at Eranhikkal Post. Our shop is in the Ambadi Building, specifically Door No: 4/120. It is an easy place to find if you are coming over the bridge. We’ve been here for a bit, providing the basics to the people in Eranhikkal. The shop stays fairly cool because of how the building is shaped, which is nice in the summer. We spend a lot of time sorting out the grains and pulses. It’s an LLP on paper, but on the ground, it’s just a few of us making sure everything runs okay. We don't have any fancy music playing or bright neon signs. It’s just a plain supermarket for everyday needs. Some days are slow and we spend the time dusting the top shelves. Other days, everyone comes in at once and it’s a bit chaotic. That is just how the retail trade goes. We keep a ledger of what goes in and out and try not to let things run out. The bridge is a landmark, so people use that to tell others where we are. We are just local people serving other local people. There’s no big corporate mystery to it. We show up, open the doors, and wait for the first customer of the morning. It’s a steady kind of work and we like being in this part of town. Our neighbors seem to like having us here too because it saves them a long trip.
