Our place is on Kannur Road in Calicut, or Kozhikode as many call it now. The 673006 area is a busy stretch of the city. We have been operating here as Fortune Hotel Calicut for a good while. The road outside is almost always full of cars and people heading towards the north. We spend most of our time managing the rooms and the kitchen. It is a large building, so there is always something that needs attention, whether it is the air conditioning or the plumbing. We have a lot of staff who have been with us for years. They know the regulars who come in for work trips or family visits. Calicut is known for its food, so we try to keep our kitchen busy with local stuff that people actually like to eat. It gets very humid here, especially before the rains start, so we are always trying to keep the place feeling fresh for the guests. It is a lot of work to keep a hotel of this size going every day. We don't have a big philosophy or anything. We just show up, do the shifts, and make sure everything is in its place before the next day starts.
