Out here in Kodiyathoor, things feel a bit different than the main Kozhikode city. Our office is at Estate Mukku, and most locals know the spot because Comtrust Eye Hospital is right nearby. It’s a good landmark for people trying to find us for the first time. We spend most of our mornings drinking tea and going over the plans for whatever project is currently taking up our time. The air is a bit dustier because of the construction, and there’s always a pair of boots by the door that need cleaning. We aren't trying to be anything we’re not; we just focus on the building work and making sure the walls are straight. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when the monsoon hits and everything turns to mud, but we keep at it. The office is full of rolls of paper and physical samples of bricks or tiles that we’ve collected over the years. We don't have a polished showroom, just a functional space where we can sit down and talk about what needs to be done next. It’s a straightforward way of working. Most of our day is spent traveling between the office and various sites around the area, so we’re rarely sitting still for long. We know the people around here and they know us, which makes the work feel a bit more personal than it might in a bigger city.
