Covo Architectural Studio

Our studio is on the second floor of Vellariyil Gardens, which is located on Mm Ali Road in Kozhikode. It’s a relatively quiet space where we do all our architectural planning and design work. We aren't a big, fancy firm with hundreds of employees and a slick office. We’re just a few people who really like to draw and plan out how buildings should look. The office is usually filled with big rolls of tracing paper, some old pens, and a few computers. Being up on the second floor gives us a bit of a view of the street, which is nice when we’re stuck at the desk for hours at a time. We work on all sorts of different projects around the city. Kozhikode has a lot of history and old style, and we try to keep that in mind when we’re designing something new for someone. We don't use a lot of fancy jargon or technical words when we talk to our clients. We just explain things as they really are. Sometimes building a house is a very slow process with lots of hurdles to get over, and we try to be honest with people about that from the start. People come up to the second floor to see how their plans are coming along. We sit down at the big table, look at the drawings together, and make changes as they are needed. It’s a very collaborative thing.
