Waterscapes is part of the KTDC Backwater Resort over in Kumarakom North. It is a very green place, lots of trees and of course the water is everywhere. I’ve lived around here for most of my life, so I’m used to the backwaters, but the people who visit always seem surprised by how quiet it gets at night. My day usually starts with checking the grounds. With so much water around, things tend to get damp or worn out pretty fast, so there is always something to fix or clean. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here if you are coming from the main city, but that’s the whole point of being in Kumarakom. We have different sections for the guests, and I spend a lot of time walking between them. The weather can be a bit unpredictable, sometimes it rains for days and we just have to wait it out. When the sun is out, the view of the water is pretty nice, though I mostly just see it as part of my workday. We aren't trying to be some high-pressure city place. Things move a bit slower here, which is fine by me. I talk to the boatmen sometimes when they pass by the resort edge. It’s a steady job, keeping the place running and making sure the rooms are ready for whoever shows up on the next boat. You get used to the sound of the birds and the water splashing.
