Thattekad Birds Song Homestay

We live right near the Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary in Thattekad, so the birds are pretty much our neighbors. Our house is in Njayappilly Post and we’ve been here for a long time now. It’s a quiet spot, away from the loud traffic you get in the cities. Usually, people who stay here are looking to see the rare birds that everyone talks about. We keep things pretty simple. The rooms are just normal rooms like you’d find in any home around here. We spend a lot of time out on the porch just listening to the forest. It gets very loud in the mornings with all the chirping, which is where the name comes from. You can hear them before the sun is even up properly. We don’t have fancy stuff here, just a place to sleep and maybe some food we cook in our own kitchen. The road up to the house can be a bit bumpy sometimes, but that’s just how it is in this part of Thattekad. We like meeting the people who come through. Some are serious about their cameras and big lenses, while others just want to sit under the trees and read. It’s a slow life. We fix things as they break and keep the garden tidy when we can. It’s just us running the place day to day and making sure the beds are made and the yard is swept.
