Sunday School

In Kanjirappally, over in the Kottayam district, you’ll find our little Sunday school. It’s mostly a weekend thing, but we’re here during the week sometimes to get things ready. The building is surrounded by a lot of green, which is typical for this part of the country. It’s a peaceful spot where the air feels a bit cleaner than in the bigger towns. We use the rooms for different groups, mostly sitting on benches or even on the floor if it’s a big crowd. There’s no big staff or anything, just a few of us from the community who help out. We spend time going over stories and lessons that have been taught here for generations. The building itself is old, with thick walls and a roof that we have to check every year before the monsoon hits. It smells a bit like incense and old paper inside. We don’t have much in the way of technology, just some printed sheets and a few books we share. People walk or ride their bikes to get here. It’s a simple routine that hasn't changed much over the years. We make sure the place is swept and the chairs are lined up for the next session. It’s not a business in the usual sense, just a part of the local life here in the hills. We like the quiet pace of things and the way everyone knows everyone else.
