St Mary'S Bricks

Down here in Olassa, specifically around Illathkavala, is where we set up St Mary'S Bricks. It’s a quiet enough spot most of the time, except when the machinery is going. We’ve been handling bricks for a good while. It's the kind of job where your hands are always dirty. You get used to it after a week or two. We spend our days out in the yard. People from the village stop by quite a bit. We don't have a big front desk or anything like that. If you need someone, you usually have to look around the stacks of bricks or near the trucks. It gets hot out there in the sun. We try to get most of the heavy moving done early in the morning. Olassa is a nice place to work. We know most of the people who come by to buy for their houses. It’s not a complicated business. You dig the clay, you shape it, and you fire it. Things go wrong sometimes, like if it rains unexpectedly, but we deal with it. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. It’s just making bricks for people who need them. We’ve been at this for a long time and we plan to stay right here in Illathkavala. It's just us and the bricks every day. Sometimes the kiln doesn't heat up right, which is a pain, but we just start over. It's the only way.
