Serene Home Decor(closed)

For a long time, Serene Home Decor was operating out of the Chempithara Building on Kurians Road. If you know that part of Kottayam, it’s a quiet enough street but close to everything. We used to spend our mornings setting up the shop, moving furniture around, and showing people different curtains or decorative items. The space wasn't huge, but we packed it with things we thought looked nice. A lot of folks from around 686001 would stop in just to browse. These days, the shutters are down since the business is closed. It feels a bit strange walking past the old building and seeing it empty. We had some good years there talking to neighbors and helping them pick out things for their living rooms. Running a decor shop is tougher than it looks because tastes change so fast. We handled everything ourselves, from unloading the trucks to dusting the shelves every Saturday morning. Sometimes the local kids would hang around the front while their parents were inside. It was a regular part of our lives for a long stretch. Even though we aren't open anymore, the memories of working on Kurians Road stay with us. It was a simple shop, nothing too extravagant. We just did our best with what we had at the time. Now the building is just a landmark for us when we drive by and remember the old times when the doors were open.
