Rubber Boards Govt Of India

People usually come here looking for information on rubber prices or how to get their produce moved. We sit in the Market Promotion Department over at the R.R. I.I. campus. It is a quiet place most days, surrounded by trees, but the phones do ring quite a bit. My desk is covered in papers and ledger entries. We spend a lot of time talking to growers and trying to figure out where the market is going. It isn't always exciting, but it’s the work that needs doing. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and wait for the generator to kick in. We’ve been here at this P.O. box address for a long time. Some of us have worked here for twenty years and seen how much the industry has changed since we started. Most of the day is just checking files and making sure the records are right. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans running high. We don't really do much advertising because everyone knows where the Rubber Board is. If you walk past the main gate, you’ll see the sign. It’s a government office, so things move at their own pace, but we get the job done eventually. We deal with lots of different people from all over the country who want to know about Indian rubber. It's just a regular office day for us.
