Kalashakti School Of Arts

You can find Kalashakti School Of Arts on Tv Puram Road in Vaikom. We are located right near the Ashramam School. It is not your typical school with math and science; instead, we have a lot of music and dance going on. There is usually someone playing an instrument or practicing their footwork in one of the back rooms. The floors are worn down in spots from all the dancing, which I guess shows how much use the place actually gets. We are in a part of Kottayam that has a lot of history, and we just try to keep these arts going in our own small way. It is not always perfectly quiet or organized. Sometimes three different classes are happening at once, and the sounds all mix together in the hallway. We have teachers who really care about what they do, even if they get a bit frustrated when a student misses a beat or forgets a step. It is a very human place. People come here after their regular work or school to spend a few hours on something they actually enjoy. We don't have a big front desk or fancy waiting rooms. It is just a building with some space to practice and some people who know how to teach. It is a bit dusty sometimes, and the instruments always need tuning, but it works for us and the students seem to like it.
