Hyder Pharma

Kottangal is a quiet enough place, and we are situated near the town area. Hyder Pharma is where we spend most of our waking hours. It’s a local business through and through. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. When you’re near a town like this, news travels fast, and the shop often becomes a place where people stop for a minute to chat while they wait for their orders. We aren’t a big chain or a corporate office. It’s just a room with medicine bottles and health supplies. The floor is tiled but has a few cracks near the entrance that we should probably fix one day. Every morning, we wipe down the counters and organize the prescriptions for the day. Sometimes the rain in Kottangal gets so heavy we can barely hear ourselves talk under the metal roof. We just wait it out. Our stock comes in once or twice a week, and that’s usually the busiest time for us. We have to make sure every bottle and strip is accounted for on the invoice. It’s a lot of counting and checking lists. We don’t do anything special for promotion. People know we are here if they need something. We just try to keep the shelves filled with the basics and the stuff the local doctors usually suggest to their patients. It’s a humble way to make a living, and we’re quite content with the slow pace of things.
