Being in Pathanamthitta, we are surrounded by a lot of trees and hills, which makes for a nice view if you ever stop to look. Our main focus is on the spices and the oils we get from them. The whole building usually smells like pepper or ginger, depending on what we are working on that particular day. It is a very hands-on kind of place. We spend a lot of time sorting through raw materials and making sure they aren't rotten or dirty. The machines for extracting the oils are always running, creating a low hum that you barely notice after a while. We have a good group of local people working here who know the trade well. It's not a corporate office with carpets; it’s more of a functional space with concrete floors and big storage vats. We deal with a lot of local farmers and suppliers who bring their goods to our gate in Vallicode. The paperwork can be a bit of a headache with all the chemical regulations, but we just take it one page at a time. In the afternoons, we load up the trucks for transport. It is a very practical life here on the hill, just doing the work that needs to be done every single day.
