Eldho Rice Mill

We are located in the Chirackal Complex, which is right on the Main Central Road. Being on such a big road means there’s always noise and dust coming in from the traffic outside. The mill is situated at number 345. It’s a large, open-plan space where we run the rice processing machines. When the motors are going, you have to shout to be heard, but we’re used to that. We work with a lot of local farmers who bring their harvest to us. The floor is made of rough concrete and it's almost always covered in rice husks. We spend a lot of our time shoveling grain and sewing the tops of the jute bags. It’s physical work that leaves you tired at the end of the day. We have a small corner with a desk where we keep the records, but mostly we are on our feet. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a functional workspace. We don't have any sales people or a marketing department. If someone wants to talk to us, they just walk into the mill. We've had the same machines for a long time and we know how to fix them when they act up. It’s a loud, hot, and dusty environment, but it’s where we spend our lives. We just aim to get the rice processed and moved out so the next batch can come in.
