Canal Mart

Canal Mart is located at 7879 on Mundakkayam Road in Poonjar. It is a local store where we spend our days serving the people around here. The building isn't anything special to look at, but it works for what we need. Being on Mundakkayam Road means we get a fair amount of people stopping by as they travel through Poonjar. We keep the mart stocked with the usual things people are looking for. It’s not a giant supermarket where you get lost in the aisles. It’s small enough that you can see everything from the front door. We have some wooden shelves and a simple counter for checking out. Sometimes the floor gets a bit muddy when it rains outside, but we try to sweep it out when we can. We don't have a marketing department or anyone telling us how to talk to customers. We just treat people like neighbors because they usually are. Working at Canal Mart means long hours sometimes, but it’s a good way to stay connected to the community. We don't have any flashy advertisements in the windows. We just put the goods out and let people decide what they want. It’s a very basic way of doing things, but it has worked for us so far. We are just glad to have a steady spot here in Poonjar on the main road.
