Lakshmama Saree Business

Over at 10-125 in Kothapet Colony, we’ve got Lakshmama Saree Business set up. Narayanpur is a quiet enough place most of the time, and our spot in the colony is where we spend the bulk of our hours. It’s mostly just sarees everywhere you look. We have them stacked on the wooden racks and piled on the floor when a new shipment comes in from the weavers. Every morning starts with a bit of sweeping because the dust from the road always finds its way inside the shop. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights, just the usual bulbs and the sarees themselves. Women from the neighborhood walk over to see what’s new, and we spend a lot of time unfolding fabrics so they can see the patterns properly. Folding them back up is the hardest part, honestly. It takes a long time to get the creases just right again. Sometimes we sit on the floor and just talk with the regulars about what’s happening in the colony while we work. The fan hums in the background, and we drink a lot of tea to keep going through the afternoon. It’s a simple way to make a living, just dealing with the fabrics and making sure the counts are right at the end of the day. It’s just us here, keeping the shop open and waiting for the next person to knock and see what we have.
